  1. · Data refresh

Rebuilt the catalog from the latest USGS ComCat snapshot.

  2. · Data correction

Removed fabricated claims and stale data-vintage badges found on a small number of pages during an internal quality review.

  3. · Data correction

Corrected a guide page that overstated the completeness of its M9+ earthquake list.

  4. · Data correction

Corrected several pages that displayed a stale, hardcoded "last refreshed" date instead of the actual data-refresh date.

  5. · Data correction

Found and corrected over 5 months of missing 2026 earthquake data, caused by a raw source file that had not been re-fetched since March. The catalog grew from 310,010 to 314,636 M4+ events (+4,626) and 14,334 to 14,420 significant M6+ events (+86) after the fix.

  6. · Data correction

Rewrote a research page that had been generated with fabricated figures (including an incorrect claim about a 1964 Prince William Sound M9.2 event) with figures verified directly against the live catalog.

  7. · Editorial correction

Corrected the site’s author attribution to accurately reflect an editorial team, replacing an incorrectly credited named reviewer.

  8. · Methodology update

Expanded the documentation of our data-sourcing and verification process on the methodology page.

  9. · Site launch

Published the initial methodology and FAQ pages.
